ePSXe G27 controls

Something i havent been able to get working flawlessly is the Steering wheel controls in ePSXe , it drives me nuts
i checked the links on this site too how they set it up

If i set it up done playing, disconnect the G27 wheel next time i start the game the controls are not saved.

I like to have it running with HyperSpin / Rocket Launcher , they have a module which you can select the plugin like Negcon with the button mapping set.
Also mapping the controls in Rocketlauncher doesnt work.

But somehow the settings dont stick everytime i have to redo the controls

Anybody that has managed to get this working flawlessly ?
would like to know
