Need some Help - Control Panels for Cocktail Cabinet
« on: February 22, 2004, 01:45:08 am »
Kind of new to this hobby and BYOAC.

Need a little help or guidance with control panels for a cocktail cabinet I purchased about six months ago. The cabinet
is an Atari Asteroids Cabinet. I purchased it from a Arcade vendor who had let it sit for over fifteen years. The
Cabinet was complete, but had lots of water damage and just plain abuse damage.

I originally bought this to restore back to its original state, because it was one of my most favorite games I played
when I was a kid. When restoring it, I decided that Mame might be the way I wanted to go. Water damage had
made it into more or less a shell.

I have now restored most of the cabinet, (legs, laminate, cabinet stucture). Now on to the Control panels. I would like
to add a joystick and mayber three buttons, so that I can play some of the old classics.

I am wondering if anyone knows if there is anywhere I can purchase new blank, hinged control panels or if anyone has
has any other great ideas. I have been trying to hold off from modifying the original panels, cause if I would like to
restore back to it's orignal state, they are in pretty good condition.

Thanks for taking the time to read this message and for any advice you may have.

Kid, I don't know of any place to buy new hinged panels...

Perhaps you can use the existing panel as a template for building a new set. Perhaps you can get sheetmetal in small pieces from the hardware store and hammer it into the shape...or make one out of wood.
5 MAME cabs and counting...

Ever wonder what full side art looks like?
