  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
RGBCommander with Recalbox blink my led
« on: October 08, 2020, 09:37:36 am »
Hey !

I'm using Recalbox on PC and i would like my LED to be bright (with PacLed64) ;D
I installed RGBCommander and my led are shinning when i switch on the PC. I tried to play with the animation and it works.
My issue is that when i launch a game, for ex "2048" on "nes", my leds switch off.
The log file contains the sequence : Switch on the pc -> Choose snes -> Launch 2048 -> Escape
Here is the log file :

I've spent a lot of time with RGBCommander and wrote some of the documentation in the XML file. I'll take a look and see if I can offer any advice.

From the XML documentation

Quote
- Added support for RecalBox 4.0.1  NOTE : as of writing (august 2017) RecalBox 4.0.1 is in unstable. RGBcommander has NOT been tested on 4.0.0 stable what 90% of the RecalBox users run. Once installed you need to configure it like RetroPie as described in this documentation. So yes, you need to specify retropie="1" etc even if you are on RecalBox

Code: [Select]
####################### STANDARD REQUIRED PARAMETERS

### binary Name of the emulator binary.
RetroPie: If retropie="1" (the emulator is a RetroPie managed binary)
then do not use the emulator's binary name, instead use the emulator's rom's folder name

####################### RETROPIE REQUIRED PARAMETERS

### retropie This identifies an emulator as being managed by RetroPie
If this emulator is part of the default RetroPie install,
or it was installed through the retropie-setup interface,
or if the emulator's rom's folder is in the RetroPie roms folder
then it likely is a RetroPie binary.
If so set retropie="1" (yes), otherwise retropie="0" (no).
Default value if not specified is 0.

### retropiebinary      If the emulator is a non-core retroarch emulator (like Advmame) Add this parameter with the name of the
binary itself.

So perhaps you need to set retropie="1" and use the rom folder name in place of the binary. Based on the log file, it looks like RGBCommander can't find the binary, this may be why. I think it runs a process to check to make sure the binary is running... if it can't find the process then it doesn't work. Kind of guessing here, but that sounds about right.

Code: [Select]
<emulator binary="ROM_FOLDER_NAME" name="Super Nintendo" active="Lime" inactive="Blue" retropie="1">
<rom id="default">
<control name="P1_BUTTON1" colour="Blue"/>
<control name="P1_BUTTON2" colour="Red"/>
<control name="P1_BUTTON3" colour="Black"/>
<control name="P1_BUTTON4" colour="Green"/>
<control name="P1_BUTTON5" colour="Yellow"/>
<control name="P1_BUTTON6" colour="Black"/>
<control name="P1_START" colour="Black"/>
<control name="P1_COIN" colour="Black"/>
<control name="P2_BUTTON1" colour="Blue"/>
<control name="P2_BUTTON2" colour="Red"/>
<control name="P2_BUTTON3" colour="Black"/>
<control name="P2_BUTTON4" colour="Green"/>
<control name="P2_BUTTON5" colour="Yellow"/>
<control name="P2_BUTTON6" colour="Black"/>
<control name="P2_START" colour="Black"/>
<control name="P2_COIN" colour="Black"/>
</rom>

I'm glad you got it sorted.  :applaud:

Some of this stuff is very, very difficult to sort out. Even with apps I know and understand, I still have days where I can't figure out what the heck is going on. I was just setting up an install of LEDSpicer using an Ultimarc UltimateIO and for the life of me couldn't figure out why ONE button would not register. I can't tell you how many times I checked the software and the wiring. Turns out... one of the leaf switches wasn't making contact! All I had to do was slightly bend it and it was fine.  Even if one understands the software, and the hardware and everything else there's still some insane mystery.

Anyway, when you get it done, post a pic or video!
