If you guys like 16 bit RPGs, give Crosscode a try
« on: October 05, 2020, 10:26:09 am »
It's "free" on Xbox if you have Game Pass.  I'm really enjoying it about 5 hours in.  It's open world (2D top down with sprite artwork) and combat is action-based, not turn-based.  It plays like a mix of Zelda and a twin stick shooter (it sounds weird but works).  NPCs give quests, you level up, buy gear and items, there's a skill tree to augment your character, you can gain party members with unique abilities, the story is interesting (you are actually playing a MMORPG in the game so you are controlling an avatar) and the world appears to be gigantic with lots of secrets, dungeons, towns, shops, etc.  It checks all of the boxes for me.
