Joystick thingy :S

First of all, the part you clip onto the bottom of the joystick "pole" to stop it from being pulled out of the control panel, what is it called?

Now my question, i used 1/2" MDF to make my clone of "arcade in a box" but the joysticks dont go far enough down to clip that thing onto the end of them, how can i make the MDF thinner for the base of the joystick so they will? Or what about puttin a small screw through it so it cant come out?

Sorry if i sound confusing, im no good at describing things.

you can route out and 1/8th or so from where the controller goes. just mark the space needed for the joystick on the bottom of the control panel with a pencil and then set router bit depth to about 1/8th and go to town on it. this will weaken the panel however and if you don't have plexi ontop of the mdf then it could break if you abuse it.

The E-clip?
1/2" MDF, there should be plenty of room. Remember, there is a spring, so when you put the actuator (Plastic thingy that hits the buttons) on the end - you have to push HARD to get the E-clip on. Don't go messing up your panel cuz of that!
