Wiring a Spring Loaded Terminal Block
« on: August 03, 2020, 06:10:37 pm »
Hi guys!

I’m trying to make a USB Game Show button, using authentic buttons as used on TV. The switch included with the button is a Spring Loaded Terminal Block (Normally Open):

https://www.asi-ez.com/member/~PCW10.asp?shop=y&_vsrefdom=wordstream&keyword_session_id=vt~adwords%7Ckt~%7Cmt~%7Cta~374700210688&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6575BRCQARIsAMp-ksPSs67emWuR22zLKV9AFMSYDakm53UssWVmQI_9WCMML3yqWxZ1JZ4aAg9rEALw_wcB

How would I wire this up to a USB Encoder, like an IPac? There doesn’t seem to be a dedicated ground, just two holes on each side of the switch. Any help is appreciated!

Best regards,
Doug

The second picture shows the schematic on the side of the case.

4 ____/____ 3

Hook ground to one side and the IPac input to the other using 20 AWG (or larger) wire.
- There's no polarity to a switch like this so it doesn't matter which side is ground and which is input.

Ground ____/____ Input
  or
Input ____/____ Ground

Last page of the data sheet here shows the screwdriver slots on that switch to release pressure on the contacts so you can insert the wires as shown in this video.
