JVS controls to PC via UHID
« on: June 26, 2020, 09:55:49 am »
Hi,

I have a 2 player driver cab (Battle Gear 3) that I want to connect to 2 PCs.
The controls go to the JVS I/O board (TAITO JVS PCB J9100556A (K91X0951A)) and then come out via a USB cable (which I believe is non-standard/COM port).

The steering wheel is on a separate 3-pin cable which bypasses the JVS I/O board and goes directly into the game board (i think its called the kick harness?).

I am thinking I have 2 options;
1: Use the JVS I/O board and do this with the "USB" cable:
Then wire the wheel into a U-HID. So they will be 2 separate inputs to the PC.

2: Start chopping the wires and connect all of them to the U-HID, which will appear as one input to the PC (I think?)

In my opinion, the less damage I do to the wiring, the better, so option 1 would seem the most reversible, even if its a waste of a full U-HID for 3 wires.
But I think option 2 is better for compatibility, as I heard there are issues with games that have their controls mapped as multiple gamepads/inputs.

So I think option 2 might be what I'll go with. So with that in mind, can someone tell me what I need to connect the wires to my U-HID? Do I solder them on, or use connectors of some kind? And can someone tell me which pins I need to connect each wire?

Thanks
