  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
I have an original, empty cruisin world cabinet (steering wheel, shifter, etc still there, no game board or monitor ).  What are my options to install something mame based, either pc/pi ?  Amy help appreciated, been out of the byoac game for a long time

Your best (and probably easiest) route is to build an L2Happ board.

https://www.gamoover.net/Forums/index.php?topic=20417.0

This will require you to do the following:

Buy a Logitech Driving Force or Driving Force EX wheel and pedal set off ebay.  these parts will become donor parts for your interface.
Next, you'll need to build an L2Happ board for the force feedback.  The L2Happ will amplify teh force feedback signals from the logitech interface and will control your Happ active steering motor.  The other controls (pedals, steering wheel) all get wired to where the potentiometers for the existing wheel and pedals are wired to on the Logitech board.  You'll also be wiring up any buttons to where they are wired up on the logitech board.

This then becomes your interface board.  YOu use the logitech drivers to test and configure your hardware and wire it up to a computer.

There are TONS of modern games (Model 2, model3, demul, teknoparrot) as well as games in mame you can use with this setup.

There's a few demonstrations on youtube if you search for "arcade racing cabinet".

I'm actually boards and parts for 5-10 L2Happ boards this week.  Let me know if you're interested in going that route, I'll sell one to you.
