i plan on running a PC, DC, and PS2 all on my PC monitor in my cabinet and im about a month away from having this complete. I plan on using DB25 connectors to switch system controls, and hacked console controllers. If you have no idea what im talking about check out this site.

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jdpyle1/index.htm

I got my ideas from them and kind of expanded on them for my needs. basicly you hack a console controller and solder wires from the button contact to a DB25 connector, that connector will plug into the ones coming off of your arcade control panel. then u plug in ur hacked controller and play. and if youre using a PC monitor you will need a VGA converter, they have some good ones at www.liksang.com

let me know if you need any more help, I know there isnt a lot documented out there on this because I was looking into how to do this 2 weeks ago

I didn't even know that CPS3 was emulated.  That's cool.

Must... do... research...

what i was going to do was buy the actual arcade boards and add them in with the pc.  Basically it looks like it's impossible to do easily.  What I am going to do is make another control panel and put hte hacked gamepads,  dreamcast and vga converter right intot he control panel.  Proably make the dreamcast door stick right out the top to load games.  that way I can jsut swap out CP's.  doesn't look like cps3 and naomi will be emulated any time soon so this is prob the only way to go.

I am asking this out of curiousity.  What games are you planning on getting on cps3 and naomi platform?  The dreamcast has conversions of several titles for both platforms and  is a lot cheaper.

Have you guys considered a switching between the ground of the DC and the ground of the IPAC?  I've not tried but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

By authenticity do you mean "insert coin" msgs?  Other than that the DC versions are exactly the same (and usually have more options/settings than the arcade versions).  Just trying to save you time/money.

Here is a great resource for connecting DC controls to arcade controls.  It is not too hard to do but it does require some patience.

you can get a DB25pin 3 way switch. its a box that takes 3 of those plugs , and outputs one to the arcade controls, and you could mount that right inside your coindoor so you could just open it and switch

Don't forget, you will need to switch the sound and video also...if you try to put that on the db25 along with your 2 player console controls, you will be left with a control panel that only has 2 buttons per player!  So it looks like you would need multiple switch boxes.
;D  Did someone say this was easier??

another I dea i have is using hte dual jamma board to connect 1 real game say mvsc2 and the other the pc using pc2jamma instructions.  only thing with this is, I would need to find the jamma cab guts or an empty jamma cab.

basically, all i would nee di sthe following

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3275171601&category=13718

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3275878291&category=13718

add those to my cab and use the pc2jamma setup along with a power supply.  what power supply though?

If your going to be switching back and forth heavily (like i do for m vs c 2 and SF 3) between mame and DC I suggest the multi port way, that way you dont have to keep unplugging and you can mount it in your control panel with the knob sticking out. So all you have to do is just turn the knob when you want to switch. Also you can easily connect the sound system of the DC using a good VGA DC box. THey have built in sound out that can be split to pc and dc. I like that site you guys linked to up in the thread. I think my next contro lpanel is going to use the barrier blocks. NO SOLDERING!!! wooo

yes but im not sure if there is a scsi 50 pin switch box.

blap.  scrap that.  found one using a 50 pin centonics.  I'll just substitute the db25 for hte 50 pin centronics in the plans.
