PacLED 64 - Power Supply
« on: April 28, 2020, 05:17:13 am »
Hello everyone,

I hope you can help me. I'm not building an arcade machine but an Overhead panel for my flight simulator. I hope you don't mind but since I'm planing to using the PacLED 64, I think you guys know this card very well.

I hope you can help me with some questions I have. I am a total beginner when it comes to stuff like that so please don't judge me. :)

In the panel I'm building are multiple annunciators. Each has 2x 5v, 20mAh LEDs in it. I want to connect each annunciators to one of the channels on the PacLED card. Is it possible to just daisy chain 2 LEDs together and then connect it to a single pin (channel) on the card or will there be an issue with the voltage?

What power supply would I need? On the board it says 12V but my LEDs are 5V. Will the card regulate the voltage?
128 LEDs * 20mAh = 2.56A. Would a 3A power supply enough? But then, 5v or 12v?

On their website it says: "Constant current negates the need for resistors for each LED" - Does that mean that I won't need a resistor for each LED? Will the PacLED card handle that?

I am really thankful for any help!

Cheers!

Kevin
