Found this on ebay (sadly ebay Germany). Looks remarkably like what you might need.

EDIT: I just ordered a "new" (used) power supply from eBay for $16. Should be here next week. Hopefully I can just swap it out and everything will work. If not... I guess it's time to get another PC and set it up... Honestly, I kind of want to do that just because the PC I have is hot garbage and so slow. I'd like things to be snappier, if possible, but I dread setting up Hyperspin/Rocketlauncher/Hypermarquee from scratch. There were a ton of little issues last time...

You can transfer a clone of your SDD, or at least the game and data setup. There may be some OS-related things you need to setup, but probably not as hard as you fear. I don't know what CPU you're running in your HP, but I'm guessing it must be pretty darn old already.

My HPs mostly run Mame OK with late-era Core2duo CPUs, in fact they perform remarkably well, but one reason I don't run hyperspin or anything fancy on them is because some of the features seem too demanding.

That one appears to have the right connectors, but the wrong form factor.

Well, now I'm officially confused - I thought the HP power supply was your spare, not the faulty one.

Sorry... yes, I have an HP Elite Desk 800 as my spare PC and it turns out the broken PC in my cab is also an HP something.

I also have that other more normal looking power supply from another cab that has been malfunctioning (computer is constantly turning off and on rapidly - haven't done any troubleshooting yet).

Found this on ebay (sadly ebay Germany). Looks remarkably like what you might need.

Oh man - yeah, those look like they should work. Same connectors but more power.

This all assumes that the issue is the power supply! I really hope this is an easy fix - I hate not having a working cabinet to play. All 3 in my basement are in various states of not working...  :banghead:

It will "work", but won't fit inside the SFF case.

Yours looks like this, yeah? Slimmer, with the fan sticking out.

Yes - the power supply that I think is fried looks exactly like that. The SFF case is for the spare PC. The PC inside of my cabaret cabinet doesn't even have a case. The power supply is literally taped to the floor of the cabinet with a little block I cut for the other side so it would be level haha.

It's probably time to update the PC but if the power supply I ordered works I'll use it as a band-aid until it craps out again...

It was the power supply! The new one arrived yesterday and I swapped it out and it's working again. What a relief! It still runs slow as hell though.

In the meantime, I started setting up a separate PC that I'm probably going to swap in if I can figure out how to power it on with an external button. It's a SFF HP Elitedesk that doesn't have any motherboard pins, which is super annoying. So I think I need to solder 2 wires to the board where the current power button is located? Does that sound correct? This is what the power button looks like inside the Elitedesk:

The two thick posts in the first image are what I think need to be shorted to power on the PC. I used my multimeter set to continuity and got a beep when I connected them. You can see underneath the motherboard where the solder points are. I think I'll be OK because it's a bit of a mess so I just need to heat up what's there and connect a wire to each contact point. Does that seem correct?

Also, I forgot what a huge pain it is to set up a PC for this cabinet with Hyperspin and RocketLauncher and Hypermarquee. I would use something easier instead of Hyperspin but I can't figure out how to precisely locate the marquee window on the marquee monitor. Launchbox and Attract Mode just center the marquee image on the second screen and I need a window I can drag to the correct location. I would also need to figure out how to map the Pause button to also work for "Exit to Gamelist" if you hold it down for 3 seconds. RocketLauncher has a setting for this.

So... anyone got any suggestions?

Yep. Shorting those two posts is exactly what you'd want to do. Soldering leads to those should be pretty easy with a little flux. Run those wires to a button and you're in business.

Thanks. Good to get confirmation.

I think I have to replace the PC. The power supply swap worked but it's still acting funny. I can no longer turn it on/off with my external power button. I disconnected it and maybe I put it back on the wrong pins? I can't figure it out.

The black set of pins is what I'm connecting to:

Where can I find a pin-out for this? I connected the button to the first 2 pins:

X O
X O
   X
X X
X X

The "O" is where I connected the button. The PC powered on as soon as I plugged the button in (without pressing it) but it won't power off like it used to by pressing the same button. I suspect I'm using the wrong pins...

Yes! I am currently connected to the "Power Switch (-)" and "9" pins so that's not right haha. I'll change to "Power Switch (-)" and "Power Switch (+)" and report back...

EDIT: It works! Amazing...

I'm still configuring the other PC to swap it out. I just think it could use something a little more modern.

Can't see the pictures "content not viewable in your region"  :o

You should be able to splice in some wires, done it many times on dell/hp boards, on the thin client client i used on one build i just soldered to the motherboard like you have suggested , should be able to find a pinout guide when you search for the motherboard model number :)

Oh man - the pics are showing for me. They are just imgur links...

I am still trying to set up the PC. It's like the chicken and the egg with Hyperspin, RocketLauncher, Hypermarquee and MAME. I don't know where to start!

Weird the pictures not showing, all the others you have posted show.

Know what you mean about hyperspin and it's associated programs, spend years wrestling with it, glad I made the move to Launchbox so much easier for me but that still has a learning curve but getting much better, don't know if Launchbox/Bigbox can use an external marquee program, maybe worth an ask on their forum explaining what you want to do ?

I tried shrinking them - usually when I post I cut the dimensions to 384x512 but I didn't. Maybe that is the reason?

Launchbox can display images on a second screen but not in a window that can be dragged and resized, which is what I need. It displays the image centered from left to right and top to bottom on some sort of grid system. Last time I looked into it, which was years ago, you had to modify the code to change the grid and how the image would display and I just couldn't get it precisely where I wanted. Maybe they have changed things since then? In theory it's doable though and maybe it will just be easier to go down that route than try and get unsupported software to work.

I spent 2 full days with Hyperspin/RocketLauncher and just can't get it to do anything I want. It seems like since the program was abandoned, there are a lot of little errors that come up. People on the forums have solutions but it's like whack-a-mole and very frustrating. I unzipped Hyperspin and RocketLauncher and put MAME in the Emulators folder inside of Hyperspin but can't figure out how to get everything to talk to each other. I launch Hyperspin and just get a generic wheel with no games.

I do have a copy of the folders on this cabinet that I am going to try and set up on the new PC. In theory, it should just work but there are broken links to the folders and exe files in the various programs that all need to be fixed. There are also things outside of the arcade set up that I have to figure out like Auto Hot Key and some other stuff. I think I got dumber over the last few years because I used to be able to figure stuff out.

Can't see the pictures "content not viewable in your region"  :o

If you're in the UK it's because Imgur decided not to allow their pics to be seen in the UK any more to avoid some new regulation. Rather than just work with it they just said "fine, people in the UK can't see it.. screw them"

Took me a while to figure out why I couldn't see anything on half my forums, but I use a VPN now whenever I need to see an imgur link. Pain, but it works.

Sadly can't help with hyperspin/launchbox at the moment as I'm way from my computer for a few weeks.
