Arrrgh!
I read that entire article hoping to find SOME connection between SNK of Japan (circa 1982-1984) and Universal (the arcade company). Because I own what appears to be a dedicated Universal Do! Run Run in a cabinet that has an SNK serial number plate on it.
I say it APPEARS to be dedicated. There is zero evidence of conversion. The wiring (Universal pinout), is obviously factory (cleaner than a factory dedicated Atari game, and not a splice, extra screw hole, or anything to suggest the cabinet was ever wired any other way). The silk screened bezel and marquee are also uncut and obviously made for that specific cabinet.
Anyway, they mostly glossed over the early days, and pretty much skipped what SNK of Japan was doing inbetween SNK of America and the launch of the Neo Geo.
A second arrrgh comes with the fact that they are "Moving their focus over to Pachislo slots". That is another way of saying that they are doing what William's did, which is freaking abandoning their lifetime fans and instead going into the (basically dishonest) realm of gambling equipment.
