Problems with controls
« on: February 16, 2004, 11:46:22 am »
I'm having some major problems with my controls.  I have custome built a cabinet from grond up.  I am using a Neo Geo MVS PCB.  I have no problem with games like Sengoku, Nam 1975, Magacian Lord, and Metal Slug X.  The games I have that I'm having a problem with are World Heroes Perfect, Shock Troopers, Burning fight, and Mutation Nation.  While playing these games my controls are all screwed up.  I can't get the players to move anywhere.  when I push up on the joysticks the players face down and when I push right they face left and so forth,,, also the they don't move they just jitter back and forth in jerky little motions.  Also, the buttons on player one's side make both players jitter at the same time.  The buttons of player two's side control the actions for both players at the same time.  What the heck is going on ?!!  I'm almost certain that my Neo Geo Mother board is okay because I can play my other games on it with no problem.  Another weird thing is that I get the same screwey messed up control responce when I access the MAIN MENU on the Neo Geo PCB.  I have rewired the complete control pannel THREE times now and still no change.  Do I have some faulty games ???  Did I wire the GROUND wires wrong ???  I would be GREATLY appreciated if anyone could help me in this matter.  I plan on posting some pics and info of my awesome cabinet on this site and to have working TOP NOTCH would make it all the better.  Please help,,, from one hardcore arcader to another !    thanks - - tomsneogeo

If your other games plug into the board and work okay, then it's not your grounds.  It's likely your cartdrige.  Check the copper connectors on it and see it they are corroded on those.

I'm not familiar with those games. I guess they have the 4 button 1 joystick setup for each player. I'm assuming you are using an mvs one slot.

Here's a link to the manual:http://arcadeconnection.serverbox.org/schema/schema1.html

it's mvs.zip

Hope that helps.

The copper on all my games is good.  These games that I am having problems with have been tested on another Neo Geo MVS and they worked OK.  I am using a 1 slot MVS board with one joystick and 4 buttons.  In fact it is the MV-1B model,,, this was the most recent model SNK "Neo Geo" put out.   I have just read that this perticular model is NOT compatable with all MVS games.  I don't know for sure if this is true or not but if it is then it only makes sense that some of my games don't work.  Could someone out there clarify if this is true or not?  Are there any sites that might give me "compatability" ratings on Neo Geo mother board models?    Does anyone know of any reliable sources that might sell Neo Geo MVS mother boards?   Thanks for the responce and once again any info would be greatly appreciated!!!
