MiniArcade 2.0 mapper without adding admin buttons
« on: July 18, 2019, 11:40:07 am »
Hello, i saw this topic:

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=154126.0

now i want to add to my cab a raspi with retropie and i want to use that AVR kit, but i have a question.
My cab is an original arcade cab, and i would use the shifted functions without adding any buttons.
I would do something like I-pac do, for example pushing together 1P-start and 2P-start get the shifted function of 2P-start button, for example 1P-coin...
I thought to wire the 1P-start switch to both F7 and D7 pin but i don't think this would work, i thought also to use some diodes, but i'm not so skilled to found a solution...
Could someone help me?
Thanks a lot

Shifted functions on the miniArcade 2.0 work differently than shifted functions on the IPac.

If you have to have shifted functions that work exactly like an IPac, get an IPac.

I thought to wire the 1P-start switch to both F7 and D7 pin but i don't think this would work
Correct.  That will not make it work like an IPac.

With that setup, if you press and hold F7/D7, it will immediately send the shifted output for F7.

If you press another button with a shifted function before you release F7, it will send the shifted output for that port.

- Two keystrokes from miniArcade 2.0.  (F7 shifted + second port shifted)
- One keystroke from an IPac.  (second port shifted)

i thought also to use some diodes
Diodes would work if you were adding a dedicated admin button for a shifted function to the control panel, but you mentioned not wanting to add buttons.
