Nvidia Jetson Nano
« on: April 12, 2019, 08:15:21 pm »
Not sure why but these things have me interested, which is odd because when other dev boards like the Raspberry Pi came out I really didn't care.

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/autonomous-machines/embedded-systems/jetson-nano/

Nvidia Tegra X1 SoC, similar to what's in a Shield TV but with 128 cores instead of 256. It has the same 40 GPIO pin layout as an RPi and there's a custom Ubuntu build available for it as well. Someone compiled an older version of Dolphin for it and got 30-40 fps in most games, that's with zero optimizations for the device.

Eh, meant to post this in Dev Board.

It could be an alternative for the rPi. I love the fact that the “brains” is an upgradable module. Pins for power functions are nice. However, the lack of composite video makes it a hard pass for me. Totally useless in my eyes for retro gaming, unless a hat and case combo comes out.

Hopefully with optimizations boards like this can be the thing for "next gen" gaming boxes, for emulating 6th gen consoles and other games from that era, when using a CRT isn't as much of a concern anymore.
