3” HAPP Trackball not Moving Freely and Scratching
« on: February 10, 2019, 08:46:19 pm »
Hey everyone, pretty much what the title says. Is there a screw or something that would have offset something or forced something over by the trackball that would cause it to scratch and not roll well?

It’s a 3” HAPP

Check the optics PCB's.  Sometimes there can be some slop in the channels in which they are nested.  If there is, one of them might have moved and one of the encoder wheels could be scraping it's opto-interrupter component, due to the tight clearance.

Pretty sure the HAPP 3" is a real trackball :)  But this can be an issue on any trackball with a similar design.  Usually a quick alignment and a little hot melt will be a forever cure.

I don't recall experiencing a decent Happ, even after replacing bearings and shafts, which suggests the housing make is bad.
