NeoGeo maximini
« on: February 28, 2019, 05:00:54 am »
hi

i present you my little interpretation of a neogeo sc 14-2 cabinet in bartop format

mdf planks and metal sheet for the "roof". inside a raspberry pi3, a 7,5" display, sanwa jlf stick and seimitsu buttons

my super detailed plan

it tented to tilt when i play, so it was necessary to do a little DIY with retractable rails

but now it's done

(sorry for my poor english  ;D )

I have been thinking about making something very much like this. Something small that will travel easy and I could put on my desk at work. :) Very nicely done. I like it a lot.

Thank you, and since the pi and the screen consume little, it can work with an external phone battery  ;D

Thanks,  ;D
Making the plan on a piece of cardboard helped me to draw the curve on the mdf. The original plan was just a sketch during a meeting at work   :lol

I like it. I was tempted by the Neo Mini but I couldn't live with the horrible joystick and poor game selection. Your build solves both issues and is a far more usable size.

I noticed that stores have started selling empty mini cab kits to fit a Raspberry PI. I'm tempted to have a go as fun project.

The only thing I don't like here is the 16:9 screen. I'll never get used to playing with black bars at the side. 99% of arcade games are 4:3 so that is what I'd want to see. Do you think you could fit one of those 8" Sony PVM crt monitors in your cab?

thank you,

for the screen, I had this small screen 7 inches in a box for 2 years and I took advantage of this project to use it. if I had not had it, I think I would have taken a lcd 8 inches 4:3.

without the control panel there remains 20 cm of depth and with the position of the screen, it is a bit short to integrate a CRT. or you really have to do things bigger.
