HyperMarquee skips every other image
« on: October 20, 2018, 11:51:00 pm »
Hello all,

HyperSpin+RocketLauncher+EDS+HyperMarquee+LEDBlinky

I am just finishing up my cabinet build and had HyperMaquee working perfectly for me until I set up my LEDBlinky. Now I have LEDBlinky working well with Hyperspin, but my HyperMaquee is now only displaying a marquee image for EVERY SECOND game/console selection as I scroll through.

Scroll to a game, it displays, scroll to the next game, it goes blank, repeat.

In a lovely plot twist, when Hyperspin goes into attract mode and auto selects randomly, the marquee image displays every time. Only when I am manually scrolling through does it have the on-off-on-off problem.

All of my issues up to now I have been able to handle myself through finding similar issues in the forums from the rest of you wonderful contributors. This time I just can’t find anything that could explain this. I have spent hours and hours fiddling with settings.

 Help is much appreciated!

I had the same issue with Marquee skipping every other marquee.  I made changes on EDS(HS Event Dispatcher System)

"IPC Method" changed from Pipe (CLI) to CLI.  See attachments for settings.

3 years later... LOL

This is good info.  I'm having a weird issue with Hyperspin where it boots to the same spot in the game list every single time (on Frenzy) instead of booting to a random game on the list.  Also, the marquee image is blank for the first 20 seconds or so while the other screen is up and running.  This just started happening - both screens used to boot at the same time.  It isn't a deal breaker or anything but it is weird behavior.  Any ideas on what is going on?

Haha…
Are you on Windows 10?  If so, have you updated To the latest Hyperspin build?

I am on Windows 10 and the Hyperspin install was probably late 2020/early 2021 - not sure if there was a new release since then (I haven't been paying attention).  I thought it was kind of a dead project though...

Make sure all your drivers are up to date.  I had issues with video drivers and issues were fixed after updating.

Go to the below folder.
- HYPERSPIN -> Settings -> MAME.ini
- Go to the [navigation] section
  - make sure random game is set to “true” and save.

Let me know if that worked for you.

Hey genrod,   All good information.  Javeryh, I had an issue where my external hard drive was taking longer to boot than my SSD drive. Ended up using an app to delay boot up for hyperspin. Only mentioned this since you brought up the 20 second blank delay.

Wow thanks - this worked.  I also changed "last_game_start" to false just in case.  It was set to "true" but then the next line had "last_game" set to mrdo, which definitely wasn't happening.  It would boot to Flicky every time (in the game list, not actually load the ROM).  Weird but it seems to be working now.  I booted to Scramble for first time ever!

I am going nuts with another problem.  I keep getting an error message that says "512 - rear chassis fan not detected" but I have a fan installed to those pins on the motherboard (that doesn't spin... but it did spin previously).  I swapped out a new fan and it's not spinning either except maybe 1 ourt of every 5 times I reboot the PC I do not get the error.  I can't take it.

Thanks for the info - I am only using 1 SSD on this PC with Windows and everything else on it... I'm doing some testing today to try and sort out some nagging issues so maybe I can figure it out.

Glad that helped.
Check if there’s an update to your bios firmware.
I would also do a scannow and a chkdsk on the hdd just to eliminate any potential Windows issues.

You can disable the fan in the bios. You can also try to connect the fan to a different header if your motherboard has more headers to see if the problem will resolve.
Does your fan have the correct header? If you do not have a fan connected to the rear fan header on the motherboard, or you have a wrong connecter without a feedback you will get this fault.

Guess you have a HP computer? Try looking for this:
