Well I spent some free time last week working on the artwork for the CP, Bezel and side logos.

Which is now ordered and waiting on delivery....

So as its my last weekend before I head back to work thought I would start to tackle the worst job of the lot...

The CP...

This old PAC cab was a conversion so the CP was drilled for a 2p 3 button layout originally and covered up with the now shattered perspex sheet and un-matching artwork.

This poses a challenge in filling up the holes so I needed to strip it back to bare metal so I can sweet talk the fabricators in work to either weld a new top sheet on top or patches underneath and fill with filler.

First things first take it off, Drill out the rivets holding the perspex on and start the art removal.

Sadly the artwork was on well and refused to peel so I had to pull the big guns out (heat gun set to max!) and burn it off.

So with that done I was hoping it would be easy to clean up but alas the adhesive was not giving up so easily...

So I tried more heat and a scraper but that didnt even touch it! It was stuck to last I tell ye that!

So I went olde skool on its ass with Wire wool and rubbing alcohol....

Several hours later and a arm so dead its a good job I am married later....

So the next job will be getting the fabricators on it but at least its cleaned up ready for them!

Then waiting for the artwork.
The light at the end is in sight!!

Mixed day today....

So the CP is still with the welders and the artwork has arrived.

Got the side art on no problem and its looks great.

The Bezel however went far from smoothly!

Managed to get it on eventually but I aint happy with it so will be replacing it after making a few sizing adjustments.

Still it gives a good idea of how its going to pan out once 100% done.

Small update for today.

The CP is now welded up!!

Only cost me a hour or 2 to fix the fabricators grinder :)

CBA to do anything with it today though its been a lonngggg day!

So I have a 4 day weekend now so will save it for then :)

Also my replacement sticker has arrived to replace the original I had to rip off plus a little extra one I made for fun.

Kind of wish I had made the credit sticker a little bigger now but nm...

I like the "hard drive hat"!

Cab looks good. I converted my America's Army cab to A51/MF and its currently stored at my moms house and she's been playing the crap out of it. I think she's going to try and keep it. I might let her.
It'll go well with her Mini MsPac:

Today has been a good day!

Its been one of those days when you finally see things come to be the way you envision them!

So bright and early start priming, Filling and sanding those damn holes!!

Next I coated the CP in the black vinyl I used for the rest of the cab as I think that will stick to the steel better than the artwork and it adds a extra layer of thickness.

(Sorry forgot to get photo!)

Next we covered the panel with the CP artwork and learning from previous mistakes managed to get it down excellently first time!

And after reinstalling it, adding some shiny new red buttons and re-wiring the guns....

Voila!

Now looking pretty damn good I think!

Sure beats that PAC art and its not to OTT for my house lol

Just waiting on the speaker covers from china and I will be calling this one done I think!

That looks sharp. I like the blend from the CPO to the bezel, very cohesive!

Thanks!

I used the top part of the CP art for the bottom part of the bezel to try and make it match a bit!
