Stable Controller IDs Problems
« on: July 13, 2024, 02:14:29 pm »
Hey all.

Trying to figure out stable controller IDs for mame.  Using a version that supports it.

Have created a cfg file that is in the ctrlr file called vinnie.cfg
Have adjusted the mame.ini file to run vinnie

when trying to run mame i get a fatal error when it tries to run vinnie.cfg. I assume something is incorrect with my controller IDs but can't figure it out.

These are the controller IDs:

Input: Adding joystick #0: Control Panel (device id: Control Panel product_a4ac0525-0000-0000-0000-504944564944 instance_e424d2c0-4d59-11ed-8001-444553540000)
Input: Adding joystick #1: Control Panel (device id: Control Panel product_a4ac0525-0000-0000-0000-504944564944 instance_e4256f00-4d59-11ed-8002-444553540000)
Input: Adding joystick #2: Control Panel (device id: Control Panel product_a4ac0525-0000-0000-0000-504944564944 instance_4d868de0-8e13-11ed-8001-444553540000)
Input: Adding joystick #3: Control Panel (device id: Control Panel product_a4ac0525-0000-0000-0000-504944564944 instance_4d86b4f0-8e13-11ed-8002-444553540000)

this is the vinnie.cfg file:

<mameconfig version=”10”>
   <system name=”default”>
      <input>

         <mapdevice device=”Control Panel product_a4ac0525-0000-0000-0000-504944564944 instance_e4256f00-4d59-11ed-8002-444553540000” controller=”JOYCODE_1” />
         <mapdevice device=”Control Panel product_a4ac0525-0000-0000-0000-504944564944 instance_4d86b4f0-8e13-11ed-8002-444553540000” controller=”JOYCODE_2” />

      </input>
   </system>
</mameconfig>

any help would be appreciated.  THANKS

DaredevilDave

Seems like this forum is pretty quiet these days. I use an older version of MAME, .9 something maybe. I don't have ID issues with my two arcade controls, but when I plug in a gamepad, or even if I leave it plugged in and wake the PC from sleep, that gets screwed up.

Never had issues with Win 7 (not sure anyone did) and I wish I could just go back to that.

Sorry not much help, or none.

You need to get the product id and vendor id for your input devices.
