New Englanders who need control parts -Group Buy?
« on: February 05, 2004, 05:23:19 am »
Hey

I've been talking with mr curmdegeon on the phone and in person.

Well between us we will be building 3 mame machines and I suggested we see if we can't get some type of discoout on the parts we will need.

Like
ipac
arcade vga
controllers
buttons
and anything else that we/you may need

So if you haven't built your cab or you simply want to add  new parts please let me know.

Hey it doesn't hurt to ask for a group discount.

This would be a cool idea, I personaly need:
I-PAC
Opti-Pac
P-360s
Buttons from bobrobberts
Trackball
spinner
OK, just about everything you could posibly buy for an arcade machine...

I'm in Concord, NH
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Hey Sylentwulf ,

You know the other thing that we need to get a discount on is some dvds anyone know where we can get them  ;D ::)

Well I am glad you are intrested in this as well.

I was actually in manchester at L&M today with mr curmdegeon (he's from lowell) He's looking for a 25" or bigger monitor and I am looking for some jamma stuff. I am also thinking about buying a Diner pinball that they have.

You never replyed to me in one of your other threads . It was something about changing jamma boards with out turning off the power. I basically asked you if you saw the thread about the new england get together in the main forum. It may be at fun spot in april if your intrested do a search for it

Also, I emailed you a few weeks ago asking if I could pick up one of those sets from you, I don't know if you remember but my ebay name is gumcollector and I am from Methuen.

Believe it or not, I haven't even had a chance to get down there and look around, I didn't even know they were still around (I've been out of "the scene" for quite a while now)

Don't take this personal, but I don't remember it at all :) I get about 50-100 e-mails per day that need responses, and 99.9% of them get a generic reply. Just the way it has to be unless I want to fall WAY behind on e-mails.
If you include that you're from BYOAC anywhere in the subject title or e-mail message, I'll try and actually READ the full e-mail and give ya a coherent reply :)

Peale,

allenstown is next to manchester.

Sylentwulf ,
Discounts for byoac members or at least for the newly put together
New England group.

Also if you haven't started building your cab yet and want to get involved with our builds over here let me know this goes for anyone else from our area. I figured between all of our knowledge we should be able to knock these things out .

Thanks
ED

LOL!  I know I could look this one up, but...

Machester VT?  NH?  CT?  MA?  I'm guessing NH.

Sylentwulf, I'm pretty sure the dvd thing violates some rules on this board, so, please don't talk about it until you find out if it is actually allowed.

I don't want this thread to get deleted, that's all...  ;)

So, I was doing a little thinking last night and I came to the conclusion that this whole idea... probably isn't all that good of one.  No offense Ed.  I mean, if we were to get some kind of deal on parts, what would we save, $10? then we'd have to decide where to send all the parts to and from there they would have to be sent out to everyone else which would most likely bring that $10 you just saved down to like $3 or something.
Unless I'm missing something here, maybe we will be getting such a good deal (which I doubt[especially from companies like Happ, which most likely sell in large quantities all the time and wouldn't give any discounts, except the shipping would be combined]).
Anyways, let me know what you all think... especialy you, Ed

The dvd are nothing more than schematics for the actual jamma  boards. I have a few jamma game cabs and was hoping I could get us all a discount.

If you look at the bottom of his posts you'll see the name electric quarter. Look at this  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3271707007&category=13717
Notice the ebay name electric quarter

As for the the discount I was hoping lfor more than that and really you couldn't drive to my house from concord (20 minutes) and hang out for a while....lol.  There are a few people who live near me and some who don't like peale (VT)so he would have to get his shipped.

Having said that a TRUE Power Buy involves the seller of the items to ship directly to each and every customer. I wasn't thinking happs I was thinking ultimark because of his new 4/8 way joystick that are switchable from the top of the cab as well as buttons ipac, jpac vga . Take 1  supplier and plenty of buyers and you  should yeild a good discount.

BTW I copied and pasted what my order will look like
ArcadeVGA Video Card  89.00
VGA Breakout Cable  6.00
I-PAC/2 with PS/2 cable  39.00
T-Stik Plus Red  24.00 48.00 (2)
Pushbutton Red  1.90 22.80 (12)
Start 1 Button  2.90
Start 2 Button  2.90
Trackball White Special for Mini-PAC  28.00
Trackball Mounting Plate  14.00

TOTAL 252.60 without shipping
and that's for only my machine . I am also building one for my brother as a birthday gift.

I am hoping with the group buy we can all save a good amount $$$$$

Is andy the opwner of ultimarc?

I heard the owner of ultimarx floats around on the boards here.

So does your bill seem to be close to the price of mine

If I'm not mistaken, Andy Warne at least works for ultimarc, but I think he's the owner.

As for my order for Ultimarc, it's a little bit less than what you're getting but...

I-PAC      $39
Opti-pac  $44
Um... that's about it 'cept for maybe some pcb feet and maybe an extra wire or two.

So, I probably wouldn't save a whole lot.

On the other hand, I also plan to make some purchases at the following retailers,
oscarcotrols    $40
slikstik            $139 (damn those sexy SS sticks)
bobrobberts   $unsure, but will be puchasing at least $50 worth

I don't know what your thinking is on these and if anyone else is buying from them so... eh, oh well

Is there any more intrest on this , I want to email ultimarc and get an idea on how much if any discount we can get.

If I know how many people would be intrested and what they would be intrested in will help in discussing the discount.

BTW crashwg how come your not going with a switchable joysticks

Here is the list So far :( these are approximate)
5- I-PAC
1 - Opti-pac
3 ArcadeVGA Video Card
3 VGA Breakout Cable  re
6 T-Stik Plus Red
36 Pushbutton
4 Start 1 Button
4 Start 2 Button
?Trackball White Special for Mini-PAC
?Trackball Mounting Plate

Thanks ED

I really doubt we're going to get any discount on the electronic stuff, although you can certainly ask.

What we CAN get a discount on is stuff like buttons.  There is a discount on quantities > 100, IIRC.

I did get the okay, with a price.  I have to clean out the dining room.  It's filled with my stuff.  As I was working on it anyway, it's win-win.

Too bad I didn't get the VF1 cabinet?  It's still possible.  It's $40, located near Boston.  He's going to take some better pics.  No boards or monitor, but complete otherwise.  I'd take it myself, but the complete game is calling me more.
