25 is old?  ::)  Just wait until you're an ancient 34 like me.  ;)

Oh and on topic, I've never seen anyone play DDR, nor have I ever seen an actual DDR machine... probably because I'm so old.  ;D

When I worked a shift or two at the Playland Arcade at the Minnesota State Fair, I saw a 50+ year old woman playing it... It was a riot. That was the first year it was released in the states, and no one had ever heard of DDR. I tried it ONCE (I was 30 or so at the time) and I looked stupid enough to not want to try it again.

I'm 24 and I play it all the time, but last year in college my roommate's dad got on our dance pads (granted it wasn't in the arcade) and he was 50 at the time I believe.

29 here and I play it in arcades ocassionally.  I'm not a DDR Rat or anything but I have drawn a few spectators (you only have to "not fail" to draw a crowd I've discovered).

I even have metal homebuilt dance pads at home.

well yeah ive seen a few parents of kids playing try it out occassionally, but if i ever saw someone in their 30s tearing up a 'heavy' song, like Sakura, i would probably have to fight down laughter as it would probably look very funny.

yeah and speaking of crowds, you can get people watching you doing a basic song and not die like you said hehe. its great if you can do doubles and use both pads, i was doing freestyle doubles the other day and i had half the arcade watching, made me a little nervous =P

At 37 you could not pay me to get on one of those machines.  The first time I saw one those kids were going to town and all I could think was, well the latest evidence that the Video Arcade will never be what it used to be.

You'll probably have a different view of people in their 30s when you are one. 30 is hardly geriatric.

I'm 30, and I'm still fairly fit (No beer gut.) My wife and I tear it up on DDR all the time. I've got the DDRMAX PS2 version so I can practice at home and not look like too much of a fool at Dave and Busters.

The only time I saw anyone playing a game like that was on an episode of "King of the Hill", Bobby Hill was  playing it.
Because of that episode, I assumed the game was for guys who can't find a woman to dance with.

I use to work in an arcade, and when I went back to visit some of my friends who still work there a couple weeks ago I think I saw the record.  A group of senior citizens came in and started playing it, and they werent half bad.  They were playing amongst themselves and the winner was in her early 80s.  They also played Galaga and Ms Pacman.  Some of the best playing of both games Ive ever seen.  One guy sat on one of the Galaga machines for about 4 hours without dying.  I really wish I had a video camera that day.  We have still pictures somewhere, Ill dig them up and host them sometime.

Also Sephroth dont feel to bad, Im also only 19.  But the first system I played was a Tandy Pong, instead of the NES.

It's funny people think of this as a new fad.  It really isn't, many console systems have had dance pads or something simular.  Remember the Power Pad for the NES!!!

Hehehehe. Yeah, I guess if that counts as seeing someone playing it, then I take it back. I have seen someone play DDR.

I'm 33 and play it somewhat regularly.  Have had import versions for PS1 and 2 since the very first one, as well as the earliest imported pads.

I'm good enough that I don't embarrass myself on the medium level songs, but that's about it.  It's enjoyable to play with others of the same level.

I'm actually a dance instructor in real life so I don't really equate good DDR players with being real "dancers," but it's pretty cool to watch the great ones tear it up.  As long as they're not holding on to the rail.  I've been dancing alot of years and the only dancing I"ve ever seen that involves a rail uses more of a pole. ;)

FWIW, anyone who thinks that "30" is old just doesn't know any better.  Any age is what you make of it.  I know plenty of stuff boring people in their 20's and cool fun people in their 40's.   For me, 33 is just an experienced 20.  ;)    Which is WAY better than the real 20 was.

If you can't be a good example at least try to be a horrible reminder.

I can't even clap my hands to the beat, so DDR is not a game I play.  However I saw a 40-something year old mom play.

While visiting Las Vegas a couple years ago, a bunch (actually, looked like three groups of friends, so maybe I should write "three bunches" ;) ) of early to mid teen kids were playing on a side by side challege cabs.  A couple of them were so good they were "showing off":  crossing legs, 180 spins, 360 spins, do some facing away from the screen, ect.  I think they were doing some "if you pay my quarters, I'll teach you how to play StreetFighter DDR" too.

One of the kid's parents showed up, and I guess their son had been talking smack.  The next kid in line convinced the mom to take his place.  The kid to play opposite her was one of those so-good-I-can-show-off.

It was a sight to see: a forty-something, slightly over weight mom kicking the kid's butt.  The look in the kids' faces were great.  I think she perfected everything.

Does it really matter? Is there "age risks"?

I never played those, i never found one here and probably i will never find...  :-X
