Joystick wiring question
« on: February 01, 2004, 12:47:43 am »
I picked up a j-pac for my jamma cabinet and need to switch the joystick because the ones on their are 49 way.  Question is, the 49 ways are hooked up with a plug in connector.  The new ones just have terminals to connect to.  How do I know which wires go where from the original connector?

Since you got a J-PAC, I would assume that your controls are already connected to a JAMMA harness?  How does the 49-way interface work into your current setup?

Do you just need to know what wires from a JAMMA harness go to what controls?

Yes, the controls are in the harness.  There are 8 wires I believe going to each joystick in a connector.  So I guess that all I need to know is what wires go to the controls from the harness.  Thanks

Ah, so you just need to know the pinout?

http://www.arcadetreasure.com/techinfo/techinfo.htm should help ya.

If you want labels to print out and attach to your harness, I know there's one at http://www.hardmvs.com/html/Downloads.htm, although it's for a Neo-Geo MVS harness pinout, so you'll have to compare it to the JAMMA pinout and make whatever changes you need to (there aren't many changes).

This helps, although, the 3rd and 4th player are on a separate connector.  Any idea where I can get that info from?  Thanks for the help.
