Creative Labs 2.1 Speaker Hack Question

It sounds like lots of people are using the Creative Labs 2.1 speaker sytems to power a sub and a couple of speakers in their cabinets.  I've received my speakers (Blaupunkt TSx542), but not the 2.1 setup yet, but from looking online I can tell that I already have a question.  

The speakers I ordered came with nicely marked cables, and I picked up a pair of RCA connectors from Radio Shack.  Does Creative wire their speakers positive inside or negative inside on the RCA jacks?  I'm assuming I could figure this out if I opened everything all the way up, but I was hoping to leave their speakers & cables intact and just plug in mine.

Is there a standard for RCA jacks connecting to speakers (which is not very standard anyway, but...).  As long as I get the polarity the same on the speakers will I even be able to notice in a Mame Cab if the Sub is off?

Yep all your rca connectors are standard. Ive got some plugged into my creative set.

Sorry if that was not clear.  I was not asking if all RCA connectors are standard, I was asking whether I wire positive to the inside prong and negative to the casing, or negative to the inside prong and positive to the casing, or whether it does not really matter as long as I do it the same for the two speakers.  I'd rather not tear apart their speaker and RCA connector if I can avoid it.

ok so here is the skinny the outside casing on an RCA should always be ground. and if you are either an audiophile or running surround sound then proper +- matching is important otherwise...your speakers should fire wired either way......and in just plain stereo it imho doesnt make any diff. however I am sure there are plenty of people that would disagree. However from a purely mechanical pov all your doing is trying to energize an elctro magnet and it doesnt matter which way the power flows...... the two terminals on a speaker are just both ends of the same wire wound around a core.

Make sure that both speakers are wired the same way.  Otherwise, you will get phase cancellation between the two speakers.  The larger the wave (deeper bass) the more the effect happens.

Thanks, wired them up tonight.  I wired positive from the speaker to the inside prong of the RCA jack, but from the posts it seems like consistency between the two main speakers is the key.  I made sure they matched, and everything sounds great (not going to make audiophile magazine or anything, but for the price...).
