Hi,

I was playing Top Gun Hardlock on PC and I thought I'd like to play it more with a joystick. The thing is that you have to do quite a lot of actions where you need to used both analog sticks simultaneously. Then I was looking at fly joysticks and noticed that they've just got a single stick, isn't it?

Not having had one of these ever, I'm not sure if the 2nd analog stick is put somewhere else? for example, in other games, pilots could control the camera, etc... how would they do that if playing with these joysticks?

Or if it's not a common feature, do you know any fly joystick which has got this feature, dual analog sticks?

I think the search term you are looking for is HOTAS. (Hands On Throttle-And-Stick)

I saw those ones, but can you move the left stick left and right as well? In that particular game, there are a lot of moments where they ask you to move both analog sticks either up, down, left or right (hence that both sticks would need to have free movement).

By looking at those pics, I thought the left sticks was just going to move up and down, but not sure...

eg of game play:

You are correct, the left stick in a HOTAS setup is a single-axis throttle.

Some arcade games like Cyber Sled use a dual analog triggerstick setup, but I'm not familiar with any commercially-available controllers like that for PC.

Will the program accept inputs from more than one controller?

If so, that would be the easiest and least expensive way to go.

If not, you can build a dual analog triggerstick controller.

Good news:  The analog encoder is inexpensive

Bad news:  Unless you find a deal on some used ones, analog triggersticks are not cheap ($135 - $200 each for new ones)

Ah, good point... I might have a look this weekend to see if that's possible, configure two different controllers (although I've just got xbox 360 type controllers for now) with that game. I think one cannot remap in-game, so I'll have to see if there's any app that can handle that...
