ADP Lady Bug restoration: the licensed German cab [finished]
<< < (3/10) > >>
Ian:
Never mind... I see you have the original LadyBug PCB. That is infinitely cooler than Space Raiders running on a Pi or some crazy thing. Great pick up!
mourix:
Thanks, Ian! I managed to get the original gameboard up and running on the bench and will order a proper MeanWell power supply to upgrade everything

The funny thing about this cab is that it used an actual Blaupunkt television chassis with separate RGB interface module. That’s why I think a “modern” 2001 vintage Trinitron with low hours is a good fit.

I've got the original control panel, bezel and marquee laying around too!
Ian:
Awesome... can't wait to see it all together!
mourix:
Life got in the way massively, but here we go again :afro: I just spent about a week painstakingly sanding and painting the thing in summer temperatures. Bottom first:

Next up were all the edges in visible inside parts. The white back will hopefully reflect the back art lighting a bit better than the original.

Of course the original speaker was toast, so this fullrange from a little JVC speaker will do.

Next up, marquee led lighting. The original marquee is stained pretty badly though  :badmood:

Added back the coin doors. This pic also shows the woodgrain vinyl around the edges Anyone know a better alternatives for the cheap wood wrap? This stuff just did not go on well.

So now this cabinet is finally back inside after 11 years in a shed. I'm pretty stoked ;D
mourix:
Alright, let's make a copy of the missing backglass bracket, and repaint the old one while we're at it.

Added a LED strip to the back.

Lighting looking cool. Will touch up the glass soon!
