trackball question
« on: January 28, 2004, 09:36:18 pm »
im getting ready to buy a 3" trackball but im wondering something about the mounting plate.  i want to mount it flush with some artwork over the top and then lexan to cover the cp.  do i need to buy just the regular 3" diameter trackball, or do i need to get the high lip or whatever.

I was wondering the same thing. I emailed GSXR who has a high lipped happ ball with a plexi overlay, and he said he had bought the ball because it was currently on sale then. His panel looks awesome with the high ball, but with only a 1/8 inch pexi on my panel I'll probably go with a standard translucent ball with no light source. Then just add a LED, like shown on Retrogamer, a Opti-Pac and presto, a cool 3'' backlit ball with no fuss. Here is GSXR's awesome website so you can check it yourself. http://www.runriot.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/arcade/
