Minipac harness, and happ buttons
« on: January 27, 2004, 11:01:55 pm »
Well I just ordered a minipac and the harness, and now I see that the harness has .25 quick connects while almost all the buttons I have ever seen have .187 tabs.

On Andy's page it says the QC's can be modified with pliers for .187.  Has anyone done this yet?  Alternatively which buttons have .25 tabs?

yeap, I used .25 connectors with .187 switches on my panel. (couldn't find the proper ones locally). I did exactly what Andy is suggesting, squeezed them with pliers before connecting to the switch. Don't squeeze too hard or they're extremely difficult to connect...  Might take a few before you get a feel for how hard to squeeze but they make a good solid connection if you do it right...

Incidentally, I just checked Ultimarc's site and I don't see the Minipac listed for sale yet? How did you manage to order one?

Ditto the "how'd you order one" question.

The switches Ultimarc sells have .25 tabs on em.  If you were really worried about it you could probably order some from him.

I have used .25 female quick disconnects on .187 males and, even without plier squeezing, it'll work.  It'll work better if you have the right size.  Clipping, stripping, and replacing the .25s with .187s would be worth the about 10 minutes of work.

Wow.  Maybe replacing all those ends would be more than 10 minutes of work  :)

Andy needs to link that off the order page.  I probably would've sprung for one when I made an order last week if I'd known where to find the order form.

I've just gotten done installing all the buttons on the Mini-Pac.  You have to use a pliers to squeze the connectors to a smaller size, but still easier than any other installation method.
