  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Anyone know how you configure and connect a "Instruction/Game Control" secondary display on the front of their cabinet using a program such as CPWizBiz (add on for the CPWizard) and the CPWizard program? How do you program a Instruction Card LCD Display to show the Game Controls and Instruction Card how to play the current game you have loaded? Does CPWizard and CPWizBiz communicate with Hyperspin in order to show the current Instruction Card and Game Controls for whatever game Hyperspin currently has loaded? Here is a link to a build where a guy does this (photos attached). CPWizard, I believe just helps create "PNG" files /instruction cards and that is all??

I am doing the same thing basically, but instead of CPwizard, I am using Mamehooker to show an image.  I still am in the first phases and I haven't got my instruction cards made up yet for the games, but it automatically displays a JPG file that is named after the mame rom name.  It pretty much did this out of the box with very minor fiddling.  If you still have issues with CPWizard you might give Mamehooker a try.

Edit.. Just saw that you wanted the control panel info and game info controls.  I am not aware of a way to toggle two images in mamehooker, but someone else might know.   Good looking panel by the way, I like it..

From Hyperspin, you'd just send the game name and system name to CPWizBiz via command line. CPWB would do the rest. You can also pass other things from hyperspin via the command line including images. This vid give an overview of what you can do with it:

Basically, yeah, you can do all that you're looking to do.
