I have a Makvision M2929 CRT SVGA arcade monitor. It came in an upright cabinet I purchased from X-gaming and they're being less than helpful, so I want to solve this myself.
I'm getting the below "artifact" (see photo at bottom of the post) that shows up about every second. The timing of its appearance seems very exact, which leads me to believe it's related to the video interface and refresh rate. Additionally, the artifact doesn't show up while the monitor is powered, but the PC isn't. While it flashes its "disconnect" screen saver, the artifact isn't there. So I don't believe it's the monitor.
X-gaming tech support claims is due to the monitor being hooked up to a PC and there's nothing they can do about it. I don't buy it. Could I live with the artifact? I suppose, but it drives me absolutely crazy. Plus why should one live with something that's fixable?
The PC it's hooked up to is a Dell Inspiron 3232 with an on-board Intel graphics interface with a VGA port plug.
I believe there's a PCI card out there that will work with this monitor. I'll also have to get another computer because the one they they use for their cabinets doesn't have a PCI slot.
Anyway, if there's someone who can shed some light on this issue for me -- whether it's a set up, or card recommendation, or settings... whatever -- I would GREATLY appreciate it.
