Very Confused About Audio Through the J-PAC

The J-PAC does not contain any active sound circuitry owing to the JAMMA standard not providing good sound capabilities (one speaker only), nor any powerful enough voltage supply being readily available. The JAMMA standard is mono sound. The JAMMA edge connector speaker wires are routed to screw connectors on the J-PAC. These connections can be used to connect a powered PC sound card to the cabinet speaker. Alternatively for better quality stereo sound, simply use a normal pair of PC speakers, either powered or passive, and place inside the cabinet or wire to the cabinet speaker(s).

So according to Ultimarc, all I need to do is plug in my speaker wires in the screw connectors instead of the harness. But some other sources say I need some sort of amplifier going to my PC (in this case a Pi 3) also? I would like to keep this audio thing simple while using the original speaker in my cabinet. I'm very confused here   ???

So basically it goes Pi > mono amp > J-PAC > cabinet speaker?

Or should I just remove the JAMMA speaker for PC ones?

The speaker screw terminals on the JPAC are just a connection to the speaker pins on the edge connector. So yeah, it goes PC > amp > JPAC screw terminals. This then routes the sound to your cab speaker, via the edge connector.

Oh I see. What type of amp would I need?

I have these in my MAME cabs:

There are several other ones available now, though. These require a 12v power supply (hook into your PC or cab PSU). As PC outputs sound in stereo, twist the left/right channel wires together, and connect them to the positive+ input on the amp.

:censored: I was hoping I wasn't going have to add an extra PSU    If I'm going to have to add a PSU for my missing -5 and 12 volts I might as well get the ArPiCade (which would solve the video/audio issues instantly). Btw I'm in the US  :)

I used this in my build:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GHY5F3K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Being USB, it needs only 5 volts. I Purchased it, opened it, and removed the amplifier part for use in my cabinet.

There are a few things I know about the Bartop Classics, but I'll post them in the "main" thread.
