Coin door parts question.
« on: January 26, 2004, 10:11:05 am »
First of all, pardon my ignorance of the correct terminoligy. This is the first coin door I've worked on.

I'd like to make this coin door functional, but it's missing some parts. I have no idea what the parts that I need are called. The switch that the coin passes over is there, but the slot that you put the coin in is missing. Also whatever part that directs the coin from the slot to the switch is also missing. I don't need the part that determines if you inserted the correct coin.

Here are a couple of pictures so you can hopefully see what I'm talking about. This is a Bally-Midway door.

Happ Controls was the last manufacturer of that door. They call it "Flat Door" or "Ms. Pacman" door (complete assembly # 40-0010-00 sold for $79.00) and it was last listed in their catalog in 1994. They still have some parts for it.

Here's what is missing from yours:

2  # 42-0061-00  Entry Plate (gray plastic)

2  # 42-0025-00  Entry funnel (also made of gray plastic)

2  # 42-0069-00  Entry guide chute (formed sheet metal)

Thank you for the information. I don't suppose there's anyone else who sells these parts is there? The only credit card I have is Discover and Happs doesn't take that. Apparantly they don't take paypal either, unless I missed something.

Only if you raid the parts from an old door.  Possibly Bob Roberts might have something you're looking for.

I may have a few these doors lying around that I could part out for the right price.  I won't gouge you, but it would effectively make my door useless, unless I can machine/mold some replacments, so make me an offer.

PM me if your interested.

Depending on the price gouging you will get from your "PM connection" above it may be worthwile to just bid on a few of these doors on Ebay.  I've seen them go for as little as $15 (mine was with both coin mechs and in fair shape overall for $25 about a year ago) although I admit I haven't priced them lately.

You might have to buy a couple of doors but you can always resell the doors themselves once you've stripped all of the parts you need.

I made a deal with MP2526 for the parts I need. Very reasonable pricing too. Thanks.

Just so I have this right ...  :)

For item # 42-0061-00, would that be the little plastic piece on the face of the door that accepts your token/quarter ?

Everything else seems to be in place .. other than that missing piece.

Also ... will the chrome pieces from the older Midway doors fit the same area as the plastic pieces?

Thanks

Yes to both.
