Starburst Auction - Toronto: Anybody go?
« on: January 26, 2004, 09:42:17 am »
I went briefly, but couldn't stick around.  I usually get all the prices, but not this time.

Did anybody get the prices?

If somebody did, I was just wondering how much the first two items went for?  (One was just an empty cabinet with coin door and no cp and the second was similar, but had a cp and a huge monitor).  Looked like perfect MAME machines.  In the past, I've seen the hardware go really cheap cause the operators could generally care less about the hardware.

If you could let me know about those two, that would be great.  If you have the whole list and want to scan it for me, that would be great too!!

I also noticed that although there weren't a lot of items (only one room, semi-full), there were a large number of pins.  I imagine that there were some good deals to be had!

Yes I went and I got some sweet deals--the first empty cab didn't even get a bid, the second cab was bought by ME for $50--it was a ready to run jamma cab--I plugged in a game when I got it home and it worked beautifully (I did pop in a new power supply though but I had that just laying around)  IT WAS A SWEET DEAL!!!!  so not bad for a very nice jamma cab with a beautiful 25" display.  I got prices up until item 18, the stargate pin, which i bought for 875$  another very good deal--three bulbs burned plus a rope light but other than that, plays great.  The missus is even ok with it sitting in the living room  ;D ;D ;D ;D,

Anyways, back to original (got swept up there) I have prices up until item 18 and they were average to below average prices--the pins went dirt cheap.

lets see--rescue911-$750
golden eye $1375
lethal weapon 3 $850
f-14 tomcat $700
stargate $875

I was so happy to win the stargate pin (happens to be a favourite movie and show of mine) that I stopped keeping track--also had to get my hands on $875 cash within 1 hr  :-X :-[  but you can see that there just weren't alot of bidders-I think most got bought back because they were so cheap.

Hmm, maybe I should have gone then.  Oh well, maybe next time.  Actually, I don't have room for much else right now.

Were there any ticket-dispensing machines or any pop machines there?

there were a couple of ticket dispensers (very lame games as near as i could tell but i'm not much of a ticket guy).  no pop machines but you could have walked away with your very own photo booth  ;D  there was also a nice condition, empty dynamo cab that didn't sell at 25$--would have been ideal to mame--i almost regret not buying it--just because I know others here would have liked to have had it and would have gladly paid me back.
