MAME on Playstation2

I am new to this forum so please forgive me if this topic has been discussed.

I have discovered a program that allows MAME games to be played on Playstation 2. I dont have a Playstaion 2 but will consider buying one if this program works. I am thinking that the advanages of playing the games on a PS2 would be many.

1. Far cheaper than a computer setup.

2. Instant bootup and no OS to worry about.

3.The ability to use a large TV instead of a monitor.( this would be cheaper and larger than current methods.

Has any one in this forum tried this --BINGO! Either that, or I was attempting to say "before" but it was too many letters to type--? Is it a worthwhile idea?

You're better off with an Xbox + Modchip.

MAME for xbox is much faster, runs most games, and works extremely well.  Once you get your modchip and EvolutionX set up, it's VERY easy to add mame to your x-box.

From what I've heard the playstation 2 can only run the oldest games.

Like the previous poster said, your probably are better off using an Xbox. It will run the games much better.

Go with xbox you even install your games on the hd so there will be no need to even get inside the cabinet.
