direct 3d issue

I go to play a rom using the newest version of mame ui and it takes a second and then this pops up

Direct 3D error:your graphics card does not support the a8r8g8b8 texture format.

what does this mean? also i cant replace my graphics card because its integrated with my motherboard,or so it seems
