My favorite line: "Cost over $4000 brand new!" Yeah, so did my old Kia that rusted away. XD

It probably did, and let us remember that 4 grand back in 1980 wasn't chump change. As far as ROI well its dated and in good shape for a restore. The main point in this post, is to be careful what you say. It is not a nice thing to say about someone wanting to sell a cab. Fran-ken cabs etc we can have a laugh at, but if someone wants to sell a cab for a stupid price, it is up to him. You want the cab pay him or make an offer.
I think we had a consensus about posts like these and I think this a good example of taking a step back before pushing the post button. The very same person running the ad might be viewing this site.
I would like a mod to chime in here too. This negative behavior has to stop.
*sigh*
OK, I'll grant you that the post title is negative. It was inspired by years of reading jalopnik's "nice price or crack pipe?" posts. They post an ad for a specialty car for sale, and the readers vote if it's a good price or if the seller must be smoking something.
Now, as for my reasoning for being negative. Anyone who tries to sell anything this old, and tries to justify the price based on the original 198x cost, NEEDS to be made fun of. While I'm no expert on these cabs, I do know that nearly none have ever gone UP in value, past their original cost. This isn't akin to a 1970 challenger (cost $4000, worth $40,000), more like a high end 1990s stereo (cost $1000, worth $50). Have you ever bought a 15-20 year old Mercedes? I have. The seller always says the same thing: "this was $50,000 brand new!" Yeah well, there's a reason it blue books for only $5000, pal.
This is a broken machine. YES, the guy can sell it for whatever he wants. But something is only worth what someone else will pay for it. Arcade machines here get scooped up within one day, because they rarely come up for sale. This one is still listed over a week later.
And while I'm not in the market for another cab yet, if I ever am again, you best believe I'll be having conversations with people like this.
