show me your easiest built machine
« on: February 01, 2017, 09:18:55 am »
im starting to mock up in cardboard what my arcade machine will look like, was thinking literally making a podium to hide the computer and to mount my tank stick to and then have the screen mounted to the wall.Nothing fancy i know, but i also thought let me see some of your easy builds and maybe i could change my mind and make a more classic looking machine if its super easy to build on account of having next to know woodworking skills.

Buy a arcade machine and convert it. Hardly any woodworking required.

or buy a bartop kit.

If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Of course they can! Talk to HaRuMaN, he'll hook you up. I went with one of his 2-player bartops and love it - easy to put together, no woodworking required, works like a charm.

Welcome to the forums.  What you are thinking of building is called a pedestal cabinet.  Pretty common idea and people have done them before:

Some examples:
4 player TMNT

It's not it's used to be but cheap and free old arcades still happen. My last 2 cabinets were $100 for both.

+1 for Haruman Kits. Just needed to glue all the parts together. Saved time and money. (marquee name was for a client, id never do that)

I did exactly what you're talking about, because I wanted a MAME rig for my garage up and running in the least amount of time possible.  I simply bought a tank stick and mounted it on a pedestal that I built in a single afternoon.

If you already have a tank stick, the pedestal is a very quick and dirty way to play some MAME, without having to hunch over a coffee table or computer desk.  I obviously prefer my full cabinet, but I've logged dozens of hours on the pedestal and it gets the job done.
