Aimtrak help
« on: January 11, 2017, 05:16:16 am »
A friend bought an aimtrak light gun for her arcade machine but was unable to get it to work (win 10, mame). The configuration utility would see it and occasionally if it was pointed just right you could see the cursor move. Not knowing how to calibrate it I took the gun home to try on my arcade.

I'm having even worse luck. I have windows 10 as well and it sees it under USB game controllers and when I go to properties I can barely move the crosshair in the joystick box, all buttons register when pressed. To calibrate the aimtrak manual says to hold the trigger for five seconds. I've tried that and nothing happens. Under Windows mouse devices I have multiple HID compliant mouse listed (5 in all). My machine has two u360's, electric ice mouse ball and a keyboard with a mouse/touchpad on it.

I currently have it mounted below the monitor (ultimarc thought it would be good to include a short cable on the sensor bar:|) but even pretending that the monitor its below the sensor bar tracking is poor.

I have another friend who bought one and the said he had zero issues setting it up.

What am I doing wrong?

For a start the bar has to be above the monitor.
The AT's shoot up at a angle so to speak.

Forget the windows utility just use the proper aim trak utility you can download from Ultimarcs site.

It has a tracker feature you can use to make sure the bar can see the gun properly and what its doing when you aim at the screen.

Also the calibration buttons can be changed on the utility to whatever you want.

See how that goes and get back to us with results.

I'm having another friend look at it, unfortunately I don't have enough time to mess with it.

He sent me this pic of the IR lights, is this how its supposed to light up?
