- Sports Game Synchronization/Coordination Question -
« on: January 07, 2017, 11:42:15 am »
<ANY information or conversation is appreciated> :notworthy: -me

So I'm not intelligent or knowledgeable in this area but I have this want to open a sports facility that intertwines with technology to make it a cool place to go. I searched this forum to see if there'd be any like minded people who may have more knowledge on the topic than I.  :notworthy: :notworthy:

This question is just to see if anyone has any knowledge on the question if it interests them to talk about it.
In my city, Jacksonville Fl, there is a Top Golf and an Autobahn raceway. (I attached photos of both facilities)

Top Golf has golf balls that coordinate with a member's account and then scans them once they go through the openings. It then translates the score to a television in the booth where the member is. It also gives different types of games for the members to play which can make it easier or more accurate. This aspect of sports integration is so awesome. Autobahn has membership integration that calculates the times of your race and integrates it online for the member.  :applaud:

I love these aspects because it helps tie the members to a different side of sports. It makes it more fun and competitive for the everyday sports enthusiast and the very competitive ones! I think it is so cool because people are getting more lazy and more people are staying at home choosing something less active.  :applaud:

I understand the basic premise of the idea. That there is some type of chip in each golf ball that coordinates with the opening and as it goes through, it registers it and it somehow sends a signal with information back to the scoreboard in each member area. But I wanted to see if someone grasped the process more in-depth.   :dunno

---------  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: ----------

I would like to form a basketball, and baseball or soccer facility for people to come to get a similar experience.
I'd want the basketball portion to be able to tally member's shots, whether it be them shooting by themselves or in a game. I have no idea if it is possible for it the chip in the ball to determine if it is a 3 pointer or 2 pointer. - in this case, maybe solely do 3 pointers or solely free throws.

I also doubt that it is possible for a chip to understand who made the shot in a game setting. - in this case, maybe an hourly worker can tally stats that sync with their account.

--- But I thought I'd ask to see if anyone saw a resolve in the idea.  :notworthy: :dizzy:

There's a video recording process that records people as they play and follows them if they wear a wristband and I want to use that as well for people to have their footage automatically. I don't know if there'd be a way to automate the uploading or assigning to the members' account with the footage.

With baseball, baseballs with chips and would be registered going through a strike zone from and restricted distance and tally for speed that would synchronize with the member's account and automate to an online tally.

 :banghead: :banghead:  lol

Basic Questions I'm having are:
1) How do the chip in a ball coordinate with opening (basketball rim/strike zone)?
2) How does it coordinate to the visual in the member's area (scoreboard)?
3) How does each score coordinate with the member's account and is stored?
4) How are scores automated to online scoreboards/member's account online?
5) Why am I so dense in these concepts? lol
6) Why are you so much more advanced and smarter and a higher breed of human being than I? :notworthy:

I'd love to get into a conversation with someone who has a similar interest or passion in the ideas.  :notworthy:

For an example of a basic RFID chip reader system, check out JudgeRob's Web of Wonder build.
