IPAC-4 Help
« on: December 31, 2016, 12:24:11 pm »
I have an IPAC-4 and I am trying to get the key mapping correct.  The problem I am having is that my computer is not seeing the Left and Right control and shift keys as separate keys.  It is seeing them all as just the right keys.

Example

If I hit the left control key on my keyboard it shows up as right control.
If I hit the right control key on my keyboard it shows up as right control as well.

Same for shift.  If there a system setting I can change to fix this to where is sees them as different keys?

Thanks!

Is your keyboard set to standard uk/us settings?

I just tested it, and my left and right CTRL can be mapped and used indecently. I tested this using MAME. I am using one of the newer IPAC 4 units that just came out about a couple years ago.

Also, if this is your "default" layout, I'd advise against using keys like CTRL, SHIFT, ALT and such. Those keys activate Windows shortcuts, and can lead to trouble.

Although, if it's a custom layout for some game that can't be changed, then ignore my above rambling.

yes, my keyboard is standard US.

This is an older IPAC-4.  Would that make a difference?

Maybe I should just remap everything?

I hooked up my old iPac 4 and a wire. Using MAME, I was able to get it working, same as above (after some effort to get it working).

Is there a particular game you're testing this with? Maybe that program can't differentiate between left and right CTRL, ATL, and SHIFT.

I'd advise remapping to "normal" keys, if your program offers that option.
