Where can I find plans or get started making my own
« on: December 20, 2016, 06:38:52 pm »
So i have decided to make a raspberry pi arcade cabinet. Im not sure where to start. I have already a raspberry pi configured how i want aswell as my controlls i will use ( two joysticks 16 buttons 4 smaller buttons ill use for menu stuff) i want to have a place for a keyboard and mouse. possibly under the controls in a small hatch or like a little rail slider. i want to mount a large flat screen in it. I would be very glad if anyone had easy plans i could just follow or could help me start.

and just build that. follow along and see the project...get some ideas...

really, only YOU can answer what it is you want. Find a plan and adapt it to what you need.

If you don't want to do the US aircraft carrier style this webpage might give you some good inspiration : http://www.koenigs.dk/mame/eng/

if you are first timing it, I would recommend either going super simple... or buying an old cabinet and modding it.

going all out on your virgin run is bad news waiting to happen.

unless you are a cabinetmaker, in which case, give 'er bullets.

Don't include mouse and key board into design. They are not necessary and take away from the arcade design.

+1

But if you MUST, at least go wireless with trackpad built in.  That way you can tuck it away somewhere like the coin door or in a nearby drawer in the same room.
Something similar to this:  https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Keyboard-Touchpad-Internet-Connected/dp/B014EUQOGK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1482520966&sr=8-2&keywords=logitech+wireless+keyboard+with+trackpad
