Hey guys, New to this
« on: December 02, 2016, 12:13:51 pm »
Hey guys,

Im new to this, i was talking to a friend about how i would like to buy a arcade game, and he mentioned how you can build one, use a small pc, and a emulator and do the same thing. I used to do this a long time ago in my pc class in school, im pretty handy with building things, but i had a question, and i know on every forum the new guy comes on here and askes 100 questions with out reading the threads, and its frowned upon. So maybe you guys can help point me in the right direction. I want to build a arcade, and use a pc to run it. what i am wanting to know, is, is there a desktop you can down load that makes neo geo, nes, super and so on all accessible and able to scroll threw and click on the games them selves, And if so what are my options? ill also be posting pics on my build. so stay tuned.

Welcome aboard, BlackWaterBuilds.   ;D

i know on every forum the new guy comes on here and askes 100 questions with out reading the threads, and its frowned upon.
One way to avoid the frowns and figure out what questions to ask is to read the FAQ.

The wiki is down right now, but here's a recent backup on the Internet Wayback Machine.

The term you are loking for is "Front End".

OK.  See you in the Project Anouncements sub-forum.

Good luck getting started. There is a lot of good information on this site. These guys know their stuff and are very helpful. If you are open to real criticism and advice you will succeed.

Welcome aboard!   Yes you can do anything you want if you are interested enough.  Take a look at some of the finished projects on these forums. Some have videos of their "front end". Which is what you are talking about. It's basically a menu program that allows you to choose between emulators and then select games from a list with preview art or videos for each game.  YouTube is your friend too!

Have fun and you can rely on the community here to keep you motiviated. We're all looking forward to criticizing ...em err. Critiquing your project.
