Recommendations for second stick replacement; 8-way
« on: November 30, 2016, 08:18:49 pm »
I just got my latest toy, an X-Arcade Tankstick. I don't really care for the sticks so, I have decided to replace the left stick with a Magstik Plus along with the extra ball top. I found a universal mount plate from another site so, I don't have to butcher my panel to make it fit using the stock plate. What I am unsure of is, I also want to go ahead and replace the second stick as well. What will give me the best utility? A second Magstik? an ultra?  I like having options to play as many games as well as possible from one side or the other. I want the best 8-way I think for the second position. Robotron playing well is a MUST!! So, 8-way, easy diagonals on the right stick is critical.

In the past, I had a fullsize D&D Shadow over Mystara/ 4-player, that I gutted and coverted to a MAME system running ArcadeOS.  Now days, I don't have the time to do so much work so, I'm settling for a much simpler solution.

Do you like the magstick? If you do, get a second one. They can do 4 way and 8 way with ease.

I have jlf and modded it with heavier spring and larger actuators. It's what I like.

As above.
If you like the mag stick stick with it.
I think the best 8 way though is a JLF with Oct plate.

Thanks guys, I ordered a JLF for my second stick. Found this one https://paradisearcadeshop.com/levers-sanwa/696-paradise-silent-jlf-joystick.html that has 1lb and 2lb springs, all the restrictor plates, and silent.
