Differences in happ joysticks?
« on: November 09, 2016, 08:33:17 am »
So ime looking at sticks for my new neo geo build and Malenko has kindly informed me the originals used Comps or Ultimates.
Now I know Paige and many others like the supers but whats the actual differences and benefits?

They are all the same price for me so cost is not a factor.

Ive had comps but never the other 2.
At the moment ime flitting between comps and supers.

Thoughts appreciated :p

its feel and ability to hit diagonals. Supers are better for MAME cabs if you play a lot of 4 way games and don't have a 4 way stick because the diagonals feel "rounder" but I think comps are better sticks over all. Im not  a fan of the Ultimates, they feel like lightweight cheapies.

I have comps in all my stand up cabs except MsPac (obvi) and I like the Sanwas in my Neogeo.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

The round-even movement pattern of the super works well with essentially all types of games. It is basically a great compromise stick. Also, they are seemingly indestructible.

Cheers Paige, I hoped you would pop in :)

How would you say the super compares to the comp in terms of feel etc?

In most games they seem to be about the same. I am still running comps in my Multi-STV Titan cabinet, and haven't felt any need to swap them out. However the Super simply feels better with puzzle games, and games like Gyruss and Robotron where you rotate the stick a lot. Also note they aren't my favorite stick, not even my favorite happ stick, but unless they start stocking P360s again they are the best thing you can get from them off the shelf.

I am also a big fan of this stick here. Feels like a Happ Super got a Sanwa pregnant. Plus you can rotate them in the mounting hole for Q-Bert. https://na.suzohapp.com/products/joysticks/50-6048-00
