Wondering if anybody can sort me out on these led roundtops?  Have to cut the wires and put on females to be able to connect to ultimate I/o harness...need to know up/down/left/righ/ground

If anybody can chime in awesome! Can't find nothing online.

The one with the trace that goes to all 4 switches is the ground.

The other 4 are your directions.  Nobody can tell you which color is which direction because it depends on what orientation the joystick is mounted in.  :P

Thanks for that but still confused
I understand the daisy chain for your ground, but you can't even see it inside the joystick, it's all internal?  I'm used to the clips on the outside but these don't have em

This "should be simple" joystick wiring isn't so simple on these crappy things.

I do understand that it also differs which way you mount but I cannot find anything on my colour of wire harness to go by.

Yellow/red/black/grey/purple for both

For the benefit of someone else looking for the info, which one was the ground?

Depends on which connector you are using of the 2 5 pin -- If they are the same as carried on this site ( See attachment) then the site lists connection A ground as black and connection B ground is Yellow !!

Quote
Pinout connections:
Connection A
LEFT = RED
RIGHT = ORANGE
UP = YELLOW
DOWN = GREEN
GND = BLACK

Connection B
LEFT = ORANGE
RIGHT = BLACK
UP = GREEN
DOWN = RED
GND = YELLOW

Depending on if the machine is wired for Sanwa or Seimetsu joysticks - you use either connection A or B !

Please have a laugh at me but help me out
Rookie noob mistake
Panel is 3/4" with a 1/8" plexi and now the joysticks won't work! The shaft barely pokes through (Laff)

What do I do? Is there shaft extenders for joysticks??

Route out the top of the cp panel and top mount them.

There are longer shafts and extenders available for some sticks, but you'd need to search around to see if they do them for your sticks.

You could also have worked out the pinout using a multimeter, testing for continuity with each direction switch pressed in turn.

See this thread - ( http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,51235.msg500626.html#msg500626 ) -- It details the process for top mounting a joystick.

They do sell shaft extenders but the problem with going that way is the longer you make the shaft the more it changes the game play using them as the balltop has to move more from center to activate the switch due to the longer shaft !

Jesus I am regretting buying these
Is there ANY WAY to tighten up the play? They are so sloppy...spring adjustment? I like a tight joystick that can take some abuse.

These things feel like I could blow it side to side....if anybody can give me some ideas that would be awesome, I know lots of you have prolly
Modded these??

Unfortunatly you get what you pay for with sticks!

I have never used these so I dont know but If they are sprung you may be able to replace them with harder/stiffer springs.

Amen. Get some real sticks. Sticks and buttons are the 2 most important things and everyone always tries to skimp on them.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Eh, Sanwa JLFs feel crazy loose with the original springs too.  It's just a trait of the Japanese style sticks.
I've read that Japanese players don't hit restrictor like I do, they only move the stick as much as is necessary to engage that direction.

See how long and wide the spring is, then see if a 3-6lb Sanwa JLF spring would fit.
IIRC, I have 3 or 4lb springs in my JLFs.

Good for you. I never understood this fascination with LED lit joystick ball tops. They look gaudy AF.

All cabs running Hyperspin are required to have at least 11 pieces of flair.
