Mounting wheel on standup cabinet at angle
« on: October 25, 2016, 11:13:55 am »
I have a pole position wheel, etc and would like to make a module for it to go on my cabinet (which has a modular control panel).

I'm looking for something like what is in this picture, is it something you can buy or has a name?  My hours of searching hasn't turned up much.

Any ideas are appreciated!

I'm not sure the part has a name.....

You'll have to look for used parts of games that originally had wheels mounted that way.
Usually 2 player versions of 360 degree wheel games.

Off the top of my head:
Championship Sprint 2 player
Ivan Stewart's Offroad 2 player
there are probably more.....

I have a spare badlands one, but it's smaller & cylindrical.
I doubt the Pole Position parts will fit in it.

EDIT: Great 1000 Mile Rally (otherwise known as Mille Miglia 2) looks like a good one

I think it's just a wooden box iirc.  It might be easier just to make one from scratch and then you'll know the pole position guts will fit inside.

This one looks like it has a good angle, but I can't figure out what game it is.
I did a reverse lookup on tineye and it didn't find the picture.

Anyone recognize it?

Edit: Still not sure of the artwork, but looks like the same one used on Great 1000 Mile Rally conversion kits. Probably a Happ part as Howard said, but I don't see anything like it on Happ's website.  They do have the wheel.

I think that's a conversion of a generic dynamo to a midway game?  Cruisin?  So maybe check happs?

You probably aren't going to find a better deal than that.  Also it worries me that I remembered that as wood when they are clearly pressed metal.

If I didn't hate playing driving games on a standup cabinet, I'd buy one of those out from under you!

The seller has a "make offer" button on both of those so you might be able to negotiate an even better deal...
