XP Service Pack 3 & ArcadeVGA?
« on: October 20, 2016, 06:22:56 pm »
It is my understanding that Windows XP Service Pack 2 will not run Hyperspin properly because Hyperspin needs Flash, and, to my knowledge and experience, you cannot install Flash on Windows XP SP2. Ive tried multiple times and researched the hell out of it. Doesnt seem possible. Any success stories on installing Flash w/ XP SP2?

Has anyone here successfully run ArcadeVGA on SP3? I hear that the version of the ATI Catalyst Control Center thats used with the ArcadeVGA will not function with Service Pack 3. Another bummer, if true.

If both of these points are true, then  I guess I'll have to go with another frontend cause this is the problem Im having without Flash on SP2:

To answer my own question: If your ArcadeVGA PC is crashing right after the HyperSpin Intro video, in Windows go to START -> Control Panel -> Display -> Settings -> Advanced -> Troubleshoot - And slide the Hardware Acceleration Slider down to NONE. Hit Apply and exit. Try Hyperspin again and it should work now. BUT turning the Hardware Acceleration off is going to cause the ATI Catalyst Control to stop working, which I'm assuming defeats the purpose of having ArcadeVGA in the first place :banghead:

So my conclusion at this point is that running Hyperspin with ArcadeVGA (at its full potential) on a Win XP SP2 isn't possible. You can still run the games but you wont get the benefit of the custom resolutions programmed for AVGA. Basically you'll have to find a new frontend :censored:
