Gun holster ideas for bartop cabinet
« on: October 18, 2016, 03:43:13 am »
Hi.  As the title states,  ice just built a bar to arcade cab and installed an ultimarc light gun but need some ideas how to holster the gun to the side of the cabinet so the long cable doesn't get in the way.  Appreciate any help

Being BYOAC, can you make something like this?

If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

On a bar top any holster is going to dwarf the cab somewhat!

But I used the standard gun holster you can get from ultimarc.

Then I chopped off the mounting bolts and stuck them to the side using UHB tape.

The cables just hang down the side but I could of put them in clips or raceway or something if I bothered.

I'd build a holster on the back of the bartop with enough of the gun sticking up to see that it's there and grab it easily.
Depending on where it is sitting, you could just drop the cord behind the bartop or build a box for it to drop into.
With the length of cord needed, I don't think any auto-winding cords are going to work.

Depending on how the top of the bartop is shaped and how deep it is, you could also just put some pegs on top of the cab to hold the gun in place.
(with it lying flat on top the cab).

external USB port , unplug the gun when not in use.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

You have ID probs then unless you use one of the ID mapping apps or they get it going easily in mame (which would be excellent)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.  Think I'll go with Titchgamers solution.  i didn't know there was tape strong enough to hold that holster (which I bought) as it feels very heavy, but I'm going to try it (The side would make more sense, but it'll cover up my fantastic artwork :-)) Just need to decide if to put it behind the cab or at the side (  That retractable cable solution looks brilliant....but I wouldn't even know where to start to make something like that...and not sure if such a system would be too big for my cab.

UHB tape will hold pretty much anything in place LOL

Its not cheap stuff (its called 3M UHB tape btw) but its very good stuff and handy to have around the house.

You only get one chance with it though. Once its stuck it aint coming off!!

I thought about a cable retractor when putting mine in but figured it would take up to much room and the cable for the AT's are very thick so I dont think it would work that well.

Guess I'm unlucky. Bought a roll of 3M UHB tape and used it to stick the gun holster to the cab. Was all good at first, but came home after work to find it had fallen down.  Then put some more tape on it, re-stuck it on....then it fell off in the middle of the night scaring the crap outta me lol.

Need to find a solution

That is very odd....

Take it you cleaned the area etc first?
Once that sticks it should never come off without a fight.
Unless you got a roll from a dodgy batch or something??

Ide take it back and replace it because it obv aint right!!
