Finally FINALLY found a steering rim I've been looking for for what must be AGES now.....an Official OutRun 2 steering rim right off the cab!!

I received it about two weeks ago. My buddy from the UVAC forums "MuddyMusic" had an extra one, brand new and agreed to sell it to me. I was looked at the back and was worried thinking to myself...."How the hell am I gonna mount thing to the bodnar base?"

Well enter Sam Maxwell Customs! My bro Sam hooked me up by making a custom boss/hub/spacer/whatever you wanna call it that fits perfectly into the hole of the wheel and got customs screws to help fasten it. As a result, I got this....

I can now mount this lovely wheel to my Bodnar base and I'm fully ready for the OutRun 2 experience!!! This wheel now perfectly compliments my original OutRun 1 wheel:

Which will now both be mounted to this...

Never in a million years did I think I'd be able to find an official rim for the OutRun 2 cab. I freakin' LOVE this rim! It's heavy, has a nice weight to it and the grip feel outstanding! Makes me wanna play OR2 ALL DAY!!!!!

Nice man. I wonder if you can buy those Ferrari center caps separately. I'm about to route out a wooden wheel for my rig and something like that would look good in the center.

What's the specific wooden wheel you're getting? I only own one but wouldn't mind expanding my wooden collection

I'm going to make it myself. I have the tools and I've always wanted to try it. I'll use an old death race wheel for the steel innards and simple pine for the wood bits. If it turns out well I'll make another with more exotic woods.

I'll see if I can find a pic of the design I'm going to do... very art deco and it'll almost look like a boat wheel.

Oh btw.... are you going to make a yoke? Since your system is interchangeable, you could play yoke games as well... you just have to hack a wireless gamepad or run some wires through the shaft.

I did one and I've still got to paint the handles and tidy everything up, but it turn out pretty well. It has wooden sides with an antique stain and a brass plate for the middle. I'm going to polish aluminum tape on the grips for a nickel-like finish.
