I have the opposite question. I want to take a 2 board (Logic & Sound) Revolution X arcade game and install it into a 3 player cabinet. OR I want to take a 2 player cabinet wiring, install it into a 3 player cabinet, and pull the 3rd player gun interface plug, and wire it up for 3 player. The reason being that the 3 player cabinet Logic Board and monitor are both shot, has defective ? Vram failure, and no longer goes past the failure screen. He claimed it was a working game, but I have not yet ever been able to get it past the failure screen, even boosting up 5 volts to 5.25 volts, a new power supply and reseating all of the socketed chips.
If not the owner may just live with the 2 player game, which is probably in better physical condition and has a working monitor as well.
Then the 3 [;ayer game may end up getting junked and scrapped out for spare parts instead.
The owners 3 player game cabinet is in much worse condition than the 2 player, and thus will cost more to repair it back to good condition, than vs buying the 2 player one, which he can get locally.
He has sentimental attachment to his 3 player game, because he has owned it for nearly 20 years.
Myself I would just go for the 2 player game, and be done with it.
Besides that he also has a spare 27 inch monitor for the 2 player, where the 3 player one uses a 33 inch CRT monitor.
Funny how people develop a love for certain things. He owns a Skating Rink which he closed this summer, and wants to put these certain games into his home to create a sort of museum.
I downloaded for free online the 2 player manual, and he is also ordering the 3 player manual. The differences seem to be mainly the 2 player version has the separate sound card. That would simply mean to bring the boards over to the 3 player cabinet, and wiring changes are mostly data cable to the sound board, speaker cable to the speaker(s) and P2 cable to the 3rd gun, and change the dip switch to the 3 player setting.
To restore the 3 oplayer is that it needs first a working logic board and tested out to assure all controls etc are working. Then his Hantarex Polo 33 monitor board, blew the fuse. I did a recapping of it. However something changed, as it was only ticking before a sign of a bad P/S but after carefully recapping it now tried to come on, and blew the main fuse instead. Nothing ventured nothing gained there.
So I can get the monitor fixed, as there is a service on Ebay that will do that. But before even doing that, have to get to a working rest of game situation.
